About simonsleep®
Want to Hear a Story?
I’m Simon and I’m the founder of simonsleep®. After working as an Osteopath for over 30 years, I found myself facing a frustrating truth, nothing on the market addressed the real needs of the human body during sleep. As an Osteopath, I understand how important it is to have a good night sleep. I wanted to create a sleep solution that aligned with how the body is truly meant to rest, so I created the simonsleep® Original Pillow.

simonsleep® began with a simple conversation between myself and my daughter’s partner, Howie. I brought the clinical experience, but Howie brought something just as vital, a deep understanding of product logistics, marketing, and how to take an idea and bring it to life. That chat quickly turned into a collaboration, and together we shaped the foundation of simonsleep®.
It’s a company built around pretty simple principles: Sleep evolved; it wasn’t engineered, Posture is dynamic; so your pillow should be too, and Nature knows best. We trust nature’s blueprint, designing around real human anatomy and biomechanics, not forcing conformity with rigid, outdated ideas of “correct support”. At simonsleep® Original Pillow, we believe sleep should follow the body’s natural design, not fight against it. That’s why every element of the simonsleep® Original Pillow is built to support your body the way nature intended.
Designed by Evidence, Not Assumptions
I didn’t set out to follow trends or gimmicks, I wanted to understand how we’re truly meant to sleep. So I turned to the research and to nature, studying how humans have rested for thousands of years. In the 1990’s I had been a lecturer in Spinal and Peripheral Mechanics at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM), so with that background knowledge and 33 years of Osteopathic practice, I started to research pillows, and try to work out why they are not always beneficial or suitable. I explored research in physiotherapy, anthropology, biomechanics, and how traditional cultures and primates sleep without the influence of modern beds or pillows.
I also dug into sleep posture, how our bodies settle when they’re really at rest, and how that posture affects the spine, neck, and shoulders. What really stood out too, was how closely our sleep position is connected to how we feel, emotionally as well as physically. We all now know how important it is to get a good nights sleep.
All of this reshaped the way I thought about pillows and became the foundation for designing one that works with the body, not against it.
What I discovered reshaped how I approached pillow design from the ground up.
A PILLOW THAT ADAPTS TO YOU
Modern sleep needs modern materials, so I chose shredded gel-infused memory foam. It’s soft, breathable, and consistently supportive, the ideal material to fill the spaces around the face and neck without resistance. The result is a pillow that’s malleable, adjustable, and designed to adapt to your body’s movements through the night.
But the biggest breakthrough came from a clinical truth I’ve seen again and again:
The shoulder, not the pillow, plays the most important role in neck support in side sleeping.
While most pillows aim to prop up the neck, I recognised that the shoulder is meant to rise naturally along the neck toward the ear, particularly in side sleeping. This insight led to the creation of the Comfort Zone, a sculpted area within the pillow that gives the shoulder space to move in, while still supporting the head and face on a soft, pressure relieving surface.
Designed FOR a REAlLy comfortable SLEEP
I believe ideal pillow comfort comes from 2 essential components: perfect posture and a soft comforting, adaptable surface. The simonsleep® Original pillow provides exactly this. It allows for correct shoulder positioning and cradles your head without locking you in place. It also adjusts as you move. And thanks to a soft cotton cooling upper surface, it keeps you comfortable even through the warmest nights.
At simonsleep® Original Pillow, we don’t believe in holding your body still. We believe in letting it move, breathe, and rest, just as nature intended.
